The Canadian National Railway crossed the homestead of Robert Leask in 1911, and later developed into the town site of Leask. The grocery/butcher shop is and has been a Spriggs family business that started in 1952. The Village of Leask offers a variety of services including a grocery/butcher shop, bus service, building contractors, barber and hair studios, daycare, community school, special care home, health centre, fertilizer outlets, automobile garage, post office, a cafe, gift shop/ liquor vendor, hardware store, funeral home and more. The first Council Meeting on Oct. 7, Sidney Whiting, 1912 was attended by Fred Smith, A.J Chambers and P. Philibert.The main economic industry surrounding the Village of Leask is agriculture. The 'Petition for Incorporation of the Village' was sent to Municipal Affairs on July 27, 1912 and made official September 3, 1912. McHanson's Hardware store is another family owned and operated business since 1970, carrying everything and anything one could need.
